Routine
Plants for Your Skin.
I’m frequently asked what products you should start with and what products are best for what. I’ve made these products to be pretty universal for all skin types, but they’re definitely more geared towards dry and inflamed skin. Living in Alaska, most of us are experiencing some dry angry skin, and all of these products were built to target that. That being said, I think most folks can benefit from using products that are high in good fats + “clean” ingredients.
When using these products, please listen to your body. Not every ingredient is going to work for every BODY and it’s important to stop use if you see any irritation. Also, please note that these products are anhydrous, which means they contain no water. Because there’s no water, there’s no preservatives, and it’s really important you keep them dry so they don’t mold! My skin is so sensitive it breaks out over even plant based preservatives, and I’m trying really hard to make these products sensitive skin friendly. If you order a product that is meant to be used with water (cleansing balm + scrubs!), please use the spoon provided to dip product out and close up the container before adding water to your face.
The Basic Routine.
This is the bare bones routine I use every day. Not all of this is required, but if you’re wanting to get serious about loving your skin, this is a good place to start. This is a nightly routine for me. In the mornings I usually splash some water on my face, dry, and add the face serum or face balm, depending on how dry I feel.
• Oil Cleansing Balm - This is an oil cleanser that is made of Moringa Seed Oil, Fair-trade Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Beeswax, Calendula, and Colloidal Oatmeal. I really hate how messy liquid oil cleansers are, so that’s why I made a balm. This is a heavy balm, less is more.
To use, spoon (using spoon provided) out a small amount of balm. Splash warm water on face and gently work the balm all over, even over eyes if you’re wearing eye makeup. I like to do this for a minute just to remove all the makeup from my face. Then use a warm wet cloth to wipe the balm off your face.
• Wild Rose Face Toner - While your face is still warm and moist, spritz with the face toner. I like to tone, then wipe off with the cotton face pads, and then spritz again (leave on). You can also just spray your face and not wipe. This toner has Wild Rose Hydrosol in it and ah, the skin loves it.
• Plant Infused Face Serum - This serum is lovely! It’s a blend of delicious oils : Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Rosehip Oil, Organic Moringa Seed Oil, Organic Sea Buckhorn Oil, and is infused with Frankincense Resin, Tulsi, Lavender, Chamomile, Calendula, Marshmallow Root, Hibiscus. A little goes a long way. I like to rub a small amount in my hands and then gently press into my face. For me, about a dime size is a good amount. You may need more or less, though, so play around until you get it right. “Right”, means you aren’t an oily mess and it soaks into the skin.
• Face Balm - This is optional, but is lovely if you need extra moisture (hello, winter). The face balm is like buttahhhh. We’ve got Grass Fed Tallow, Organic Sea Buckthorn Oil, Organic Carrot Seed Oil, and Vitamin E, infused with Frankincense, Calendula, Lavender, Chickweed, Marshmallow Root, Yarrow, Comfrey Root, and Tulsi.
